Our Mission is to support healthcare services for Loudoun County residents who, as a result of economic or other barriers, would otherwise do without. Our History
The Loudoun Free Clinic (LFC) was founded in 1998 to provide free medical care to low-income, uninsured adults in Loudoun County. The Loudoun County Health Department provided us with space to hold a general medical clinic one night a week. In 2002 we opened the doors of our new home; 2,800 square feet of space donated by Inova Loudoun Hospital. Since that time we have improved the health and lives of thousands of people by providing top quality, compassionate medical care. In order to qualify a patient must be uninsured, have a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level and be a resident of Loudoun County. When we first opened our doors in 2002 we had one paid staff member and a committed group of volunteers. This small, dedicated group provided health care services to an average of 21 patients per week on a first-come, first-served basis. |
Annual Reports & Financials |
Today LFC is an established and respected partner in the community. We have an outstanding staff, including 8 full-time and 5 part-time members, and dedicated group of 160 volunteers who provide care to more than 1,500 patients. Our volunteers dedicated more than 5,000 hours of services valued at more than $150,000 in FY11.
Our Work
Since 2002 the Loudoun Free Clinic has cared for thousands of people struggling with emergency, acute and chronic medical conditions. We coordinate all of their visits, medications, tests, surgeries, and often transportation and ensure that all treatments are provided at no cost to our patients. We are funded entirely by grants and donations and supported by a network of community organizations as well as a loving and dedicated group of volunteers who staff our daytime and evening clinics to meet this critical need in our community.
Our Commitment
We are committed to making sure that no one in our community goes without medical care and have opened our doors to more people than ever before. In FY11 we treated 57% more patients – the largest year-over-year increase in our history. We provided care during 2,904 visits and distributed nearly 14,000 prescriptions valued at almost $2,000,000.00. Through the tremendous support of our community we were able to provide $7.04 in medical services for every $1.00 spent. But what we offer goes beyond medical care. Many of our patients come to us under the most difficult of circumstances, when they are sick and struggling, and when they have lost their ability to provide for their families, let alone their most basic health care needs. LFC offers expert medical care and something that cannot be measured – caring support and a community to which they can turn.
